It's My Blog and I'll Whine If I Want To...
My feet have gone completely numb. I mean the entire bottoms of my feet. It's making it very difficult to walk easily and without thinking about each step. At night, my feet cramp up for hours after I get off them for the day. I'm going to have to bring this up the next time I see my oncologist. My fingers still have the same amount of numbness, no more and no less.
I also ran out of the Decadron, so I'm achy and very, very tired. I'm getting headaches too. These are side-effects of Herceptin, so I guess I'm not as lucky as I thought I might be. I'm probably feeling the side-effects now because they increased the dosage since I'm only getting infusions once every three weeks instead of every other week.
This has been a setback for me. I thought I was going to be able to bounce right back since I was feeling so good right after ending the hardcore chemotherapy. I think it's going to be sporadic. Sometimes I'll feel okay or good, and other times I will feel terrible. I'm trying to improve my diet a little more by cutting down on the sugary stuff. The Decadron (steroid) made my gain a tremendous amount of weight, and I've been crazy craving anything sweet. I dream about desserts. It's awful. I can also eat nearly non-stop, and eat massive amounts of food with no feelings that I'm going to pop or anything like that. The chemo killed my "FULL" switch in addition to everything else.

Okay, this is sooo cool. I would love to do this in my van. Just drift it all over the track so no one can get by... Ha ha ha!

Hey Kathy ~
I'm sorry to hear that you are not feeling so well. I really hope you are doing better when we arrive, would love for you to be able to go to the show with us! Darn medicine - making you sick!!
Does Rita Fay know you want to do that in the van? You might give her a heart attack!
See you REAL soon ~ :-)
Yes, I'm planning on going to the show. I hope this doesn't take me out at last minute. Darn medicine!
I think that Rita might have an idea that I would want to do something like this. I'd really like to rally-out the Civic (which includes removing the hubcaps and applying stickers and large numbers to the exterior of the car), and she continues to deny me that pleasure for some strange reason. I just think it's hilariously funny to see a racing van. It's even funnier than seeing a racing Volvo.
At some point your son might be embarrassed to be seen in a rallied-out Civic!
It would be cool though.
Maybe Dan will do it to mine. (NOT!)
See ya ~
Really? Wow... I would have given my right arm to be able to drive a rally car (or even one that remotely looked like a rally car) when I was a teenager. I guess I truly am a weirdo!
Hey,
sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. is the decadron like Prednisone? I had to take that for the side effects of my treatment and it did the same to me. take care and please email me soon. Hope you feel better soon
Love me
Hey Liz,
Yes, apparently Prednisone and Decadron are both corticosteroids, so I would assume they would have similar side effects.
If it feels too good to be true, then it probably is...
Hi Kathleen,
Just pulled up my email. I'm so
sorry you are feeling badly. I can't imagine how your feet would feel all numb on the bottom. You
dealt with the fingers but the feet
seem like they would be worse. Surely hope things get a little beter as the treatment goes along or not? Grampa asks about you at
least weekly and can only tell him
you are dealing with it as best you
can.
Finally got our air conditioning
installed. Last Tuesday they took
out the asbestos and on Wednesday
they worked nine hours to get everything repaired, installed, removed and up and running. It wasn't too soon too since we are
having hot and humid weather as
probably you are too. It has been
a life saver. I can now sleep at
night alot better and don't even
remember when I fell to sleep which
is good for me. Grampa is even glad
he did it at last and spent the money. Would have been alot cheaper had he done it years ago.
Oh well, thankful it is accomplished. Oh I just noticed the temp there.... not too bad but
you are having humidity.
Well, please take care give a hug
and a kiss to Aidan for me. Has
he gotten the first issue of the
National Geographic Kids magazine
yet? Hope he likes it. It was for
3-5 year olds so that is why I did
it. Tell Rita I said hi too and
hug, hug.
Love you,
Gramommy
Hi Gramom,
I'm glad you guys got some A/C. The extreme heat is one of the major reasons we moved out of California. It should be much more tolerable for you and Grama and Grampa now.
No, Aidan has not received the National Geographic Kids magazine yet. Thanks for the heads up. We'll keep our eyes open for it. Aidan will be very excited to receive something besides junk mail in the mail. Every day after getting the mail out of the mailbox, he announces how many pieces of junk mail we received. I think it's getting a little old.
Aidan is just too funny. I do hope
he gets it soon then. Got a card
from National Geographic a week or
so ago letting me know it will be
sent. Don't know whether it is
every month or every other. Let me
know when he does. Love you.
Hi, Kathleen and Rita! I just got on-line and got caught up with your news. I'm so sorry to hear of your set back. Your foot problems sound like Uncle Peter's - you two have more in common than you know! I'm home from work, and have been since Wednesday -I have really bad eye allegies. They were so swollen that Peter said I looked like a realllllly fat Japanese! So much for sympathy - I did sort of look like a sumo wrestler in the face. My eyes were so swollen that my skin felt like it was stretched to the max and hurt to the touch. It's gone down quite a bit but not yet back to normal. This hits me once a year for some odd reason - it's always temporary but it did last longer this time than I can remember.
You may have the sweet tooth monster in you and it just manifested itself later in life. Great Grandmom and I have it in the worst way - so I hope yours is temporary!
Please - no hot roding and racing! Wishing and hoping is all you are allowed!
Take care - hugs and kisses to Aidan and Rita.
